Barnardo's Play Room

Barnardo's Playroom at the Summerfield Centre, Abingdon, UK

Summerfield is a six-bedded full-time residential care centre catering for children and young people with severe learning disabilities and complex needs, aged between 5 and 18 years. The centre was in desperate need of a well equipped sensory room. 

The fully equipped sensory playroom now helps with concentration, alertness, mobility, social relations, creativity and communication for the children.

In essence, the addition of this sensory playroom has changed the lives of both the children at the centre and the staff that support them. 

The room includes:

Colour changing mood lights 

Interactive sensory floor

Tactile wall panels 

A bubble tube

Fibre optic sky and half circle

LED infinity panel
